Tixel

Introducing the latest technology for skin rejuvenation using pure heat! It is not a laser, ultrasound or radio-frequency device. It is Tixel®.

The TIXEL is a treatment that uses Thermal Energy to target and the resurface of the skin. The heat is delivered through a titanium plate and the settings can be varied to provide a number of applications, such as a stand alone treatment, or in combination with topical skin products.

WHAT IS TIXEL?

Tixel® is an energy (heat) based device that utilises pure heat & motion technology. The hand piece is made of medical-grade titanium which gently touches the skin to induce micro heat injuries, which activates the skin’s self repair process by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin; resulting in improved skin tone, texture and strength.

COMMON AREAS TO TREAT

  • Total face rejuvenation
  • Hooded eye lift
  • Under eye crepe skin
  • Crepe skin to neck
  • Lines around the mouth
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Back of hands
  • Scars – eg c-section
  • Acne scaring

How it works

The TIXEL applies a high temperature to the skin through what is called Thermo-Mechanical Ablation (TMA) technology. A small Titanium plate that consists of  tiny pyramid shaped pins (which do not pierce through the skin) is applied to the skin’s surface in a stamping pattern at a precisely controlled speed. The pins deliver thermal energy at very high temperature (400 deg.) in brief millisecond pulses in what we call a fractional mode which means small zones are treated.

The high temperature heat that is transferred into the skin results in the controlled formation of tiny micropores in the upper layers of the skin because of water evaporation. The micropores not only stimulate a collagen response which improves skin quality, but they provide channels for the enhanced absorption of topical products applied to the skins surface.

Benefits

  • Tightens loose skin
  • Improves crepe skin
  • Improves skin tone and texture
  • Stimulates collagen production
  • Reduces the appearance of acne scars
  • Diminishes the look of fine lines
  • Works on all skin types
  • Very little down time compared to laser
  • Provides deeper product penetration

IS TIXEL SAFE?

All skin types can be treated and unlike Lasers the TIXEL does not require the use of protective eyewear as it is not light-based. This also means it is possible to safely treat very close to the eye. There is no skin bleeding with the TIXEL and the high temperature of the pins makes it a sterile procedure.

WHAT IS THE DOWN TIME?

At low power settings there is no pain and no downtime. At high settings we do use topical anaesthetic cream and there can be some skin response for 3-4 days, such as redness and swelling.

However the skin reaction is much less after TIXEL than with ablative lasers such as the C02 because the pure heat that is applied through the TIXEL avoids wounds that occurs with ablative lasers.

HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE NEEDED?

Tixel® works best in a course of treatments. It is usually done on average of 3-4 sessions. It is best to keep the appointments as frequent as 4 weeks apart depending on your concerns. With a recommended maintenance of once to twice per year.
